George and Dolly Foster-Trip to Chile
We have long felt that Chile should be a leader among missionary-sending
nations-if not in total numbers at least in missionaries per capita. The church has grown strong and is reported to have the highest percentage of evangelicals among all Latin American nations.
Now national Christians need to see that Christ is counting on them to join forces with those who are taking the gospel to the ends of the earth.
Bethany’s thrust in Chile
To mobilize, train and send missionaries is the reason three American couples have initiated “Programa Amor.” Dan and Arlene Cool, Ed and Taleatha Hailey and Dion and Natasha Mueller have joined to provide the vision-sharing and cross-cultural training that young Chileans need as they consider Christ’s command to “make disciples of all nations.”
Preparations have been made. Alliances are being formed. Classroom space has been allocated. Seven students are enrolled and the missions school is up and running.
Dolly and I had the task of helping the missionaries with team dynamics to see that they are all on the same page .Everyone is needed for the central task. We met with each couple and listened to their concerns, but as together we analyzed the different styles and dreams of each person, we see how each has a vital role to play.
More workers are needed! Chileans have been added to the teaching staff and there is great potential. We would love to see them joined by young people from the USA and abroad with a vision to train and empower new workers. Please pray for Bethany grads and others to join the “Programa Amor” (program of love) team.
We feltĀ Sunday night was a fitting close. We gathered at a local church, shared the vision, enlisted help and extended a call to young people willing to take up their cross and follow Christ to the mission fields of the world. We were happy to see many gather at the altar to consecrate their lives to God to serve Him wherever He calls them to work.
